Summerville, SC offers the comfort and community spirit of a small town, with its inviting Main Street and central business district, blended seamlessly with a modern, vibrant outlook.  The Ponds, Summerville's newest and finest planned real estate community, is being constructed as an extension of Summerville, complementing the town's lively culture, honoring its small-town traditions and continuing its legacy of timeless Lowcountry architecture.

Since the late 1800’s, tourists and residents alike have come to Summerville for the local floral fairs, and to enjoy the thousands of azaleas. The popular azalea overflows from private and public gardens, including the mid-town Azalea Park.  In 1925, these wonderful flowers inspired Summerville’s Chamber of Commerce to adopt the slogan "Flower Town in the Pines”.  The town’s Inaugural Flower Festival was held in 1941, and has been held in April ever year since.  In 2007 and 2008, The Ponds has been the major sponsor for the Festival.

In addition to the Flowertown Festival, crowds of people visit Azalea Park each May for "Sculpture in the South" Exhibit and Sale, which features nationally known artists displaying fine representational sculpture in an outdoor art gallery.  Also, in early December, the holiday season is ushered in when families living in South Carolina meet at Town Square for the Annual Christmas Tree Lighting celebration.
